Conformia Names Joseph A. Prang Chairman and CEO
Prang's Deep Enterprise Software Track Record Guiding High Growth Companies Positions Conformia to Lead The Emerging Enterprise Conformance Management (ECM) Market

Redwood City, California, USA - June 3, 2003 Conformia Software Inc. ("Conformia") an enterprise software company developing Enterprise Conformance Management ("ECM") solutions for process industries, today announced that Joseph A. Prang has joined the company as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. A 25-year veteran with a track record of creating industry leading enterprise software companies, Prang will drive corporate strategy and accelerate the company's position in multiple vertical industries. He also will lead the expanding executive management team, including Anjali Kataria, Co-Founder and CEO of the company who will assume the role of Vice President of Business Development and remain on the company's Board of Directors.

"Joe has more than 20 years operating experience in software and services business models, and in all three cases the company emerged as the market leader during his tenure," said Anjali Kataria. "Having him at the helm of Conformia is the best step forward for Conformia's growth." "Conformia is well positioned to address an enormous problem facing process industries -- from beverages and food to life sciences and consumer products. They are all trying to simultaneously improve their business performance while meeting increasing complex regulatory and consumer driven compliance. An ECM solution has huge value to these companies, because today their only solutions are fragmented commercial and proprietary applications interspersed with large amounts of manual steps" said Mr. Prang. "Conformia's ability to raise capital in an almost unprecedented short time with one of the top Venture Capital firms in the country, Sequoia Capital, demonstrates our collective view that this is a large and untapped market."

Prang's operating roles span multiple markets relevant to Conformia
  • Supply Chain / Materials management as President of Aspect Development Inc. the leader in inbound supply chain for discrete and process manufacturing companies. He helped build into the most highly valued software acquisition in history ($9.3 billion by i2 Technologies in 2000).
  • Product Development as Division President of Cadence Design Systems Inc. the leader in development and project management systems for engineers and scientists.
  • Manufacturing and Quality as Division General Manager of GenRad Inc. the leader in commercial manufacturing and quality management solutions.

"As an industry veteran with substantial experience in both start-up and public companies, we are excited to have him lead Conformia" said Neil Kataria, Co-Founder and Director of Alcohol Solutions. Prang was most recently Co-Founder of Mentor Capital Group LLC (MCG). MCG has helped develop multiple enterprise software companies including Agile Software (NASDAQ:AGIL), Rightworks (now i2), SupplyBase (now i2), Metreo, Cardonet, Trados, and Worldchain.

Prang joins Conformia at a pivotal juncture in the company's growth from a development stage to a go-to-market stage company. "I plan to bring together a world class team of industry domain and enterprise software experts working in a "for the industry, by the industry" style with our customers and partners. This team will set the industry agenda for ECM solutions, and the conformance best practices that will compliment them "said Joe Prang.

"We are delighted to have someone of Joe's caliber to lead this organization as it enters a period of accelerated growth," said Sameer Gandhi, General Partner of Sequoia Capital. "Joe has a stellar track record of achieving dramatic revenue growth and establishing companies as market leaders. We welcome his expertise, vision, and passion to Conformia.
